Photobooth v2 includes the OSPHERIX Camera Engine. It starts with the application and handles discovery, live view, exposure, focus, and tethered capture without a separate companion application.

General camera recommendations

  • Connect the camera by USB before starting a live event.
  • Use AC power for the camera when possible — battery depletion during an event can interrupt live view.
  • If the camera was changed during the same app session, wait a few seconds for USB detection to refresh.
  • If detection fails, restart the camera first, then the app.
  • Use a direct USB port on the PC rather than a USB hub if possible.

Connecting a tethered camera

  1. Open Set up → Camera.
  2. Choose DSLR / Mirrorless (Direct).
  3. Connect and power on the camera, then click Detect Camera.
  4. Leave the camera name blank to use the first compatible camera, or enter a model/serial when selecting a specific device.
  5. Confirm that live view appears and take a complete test capture before launching the event.
No companion application is required. Close any other tethering or camera-control software before detection because another application can hold exclusive access to the USB camera.

Camera file and connection settings

  • Keep JPEG or RAW+JPEG enabled so the app receives a previewable image.
  • Use PTP or PC Remote rather than Mass Storage when your camera offers that choice.
  • Disable automatic power-off and use AC power for long events.
  • Use a direct USB port and a reliable data cable whenever possible.

Webcam / USB and IP camera sources

Select Webcam / USB for a UVC-compatible source. For a network camera, select IP Camera, enter its snapshot or MJPEG URL, test the stream, and choose the required orientation. These modes use the frames supplied by the selected source and do not expose DSLR focus or exposure controls.
